Life is Beautiful

This is a movie about a man's use of comedy in a seemingly hopeless situation. The story took place in Italy and it was all about the life of a humurous, goofy and happy-go-lucky man named Guido who works as a waiter in a hotel owned by his uncle. The first part of the story is breezy romantic with a little comedy wherein Guido was trying to win his princess' heart (Dora). He makes his courtship with Dora extraordinary by creating a world of gentle and magic around them. Although was to be married with a civil servant, it does not stopped Guido from wnning his princess' heart. He took away Dora from that man. By that then, they live together and blessed with a handsome son named Joshua. After they got married, they live a quite different life. Guido, after his marriage owned a bookstore where Joshua used to help him in managing it. Unexpectedly, one day without warning, Guido and his family were taken by he Jewish- Italian soldiers and subjected to persecution. They were prisoned in the concentration camp where Dora was separated from them. To protect his son, Guido took the risk of treating the whole camp just as a game where they need to earn a hundred points to win the price which is a tank, a real one. He inculcate to Joshua's mind the illusion of winning the price by performing various activities like staying hidden, following orders, maintaining silence etc. At first, it easy for him to direct his son's attention from the misery around him but as the condition at the camp progressively worsen, Guido finds it increasingly difficult to maintain the illusion. The movie is a comedy yet trully touching. It depicts a father's love to his family who, to the extent of his love sacrificed even his own life just to save them. It is really true that despite bitterness and troubles, life is still beautiful especially when we know what love, faith and sacrifice means.
